🏆 TOURNAMENT RECAP: Indian Open 2026 Wraps in Hyderabad

The inaugural IPA-sanctioned PWR 1000 Indian Open concluded on April 5th in Hyderabad, marking a massive watershed moment for the sport’s global expansion. Over 1,500 competitors from 19 countries battled across 56 categories for a $50,000 prize pool at Crosscourts in Hyderabad.

Why this matters: This partnership between Global Sports and the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) represents the first time India’s largest private tournament series has been integrated into official national governance. The PWR 1000 designation establishes a unified ranking system and centralized management, legitimizing the previously unstructured Indian pickleball ecosystem.

With India’s pickleball community expanding rapidly across Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Hyderabad, experts predict the sport could become one of India’s fastest-growing recreational activities. The Indian contingent will next compete at the US Open (April 11-18) in Naples, having secured direct entry through a landmark partnership between the IPA and the US Open.

👥 PRO PLAYER MOVES

Anna Leigh Waters’ Franklin deal is officially making waves. The sport’s most marketable player debuted her Franklin partnership in early January, ending her longtime relationship with Paddletek.
